Shades of Grey

There's no going back. That girl's blood will always be on his hands; her yellow eyes forever ingrained in his memory. She's part of him; she's changed him.

The world looks different, full of possibilities that never existed a few short days ago. Are monster's always monstrous?

But now he'll forever see shades of grey in a British Men of Letters world of black and white. He'll be the outsider, and once the elders learn he doesn't fit, there won't be room for him any more.

A different future beckons, with new allies who will learn all of his secrets.

A/N: I mostly enjoyed this episode! I found Claire less irritating than I usually do, and there were plenty of Sam and Dean moments to enjoy (Sam's look of distress when told he's not sharing a room with his brother, Dean shoving a fist full of mints (?) in his pocket, swimming naked, Sam squashed into Claire's car, fiercely protective Dean, and Sam's conversations with Claire). I loved the development of Mick's story line and I can't help but wonder if he's going to switch 'sides', and possibly even be the one to tell Sam and Dean about Magda (I need to this happen now that Dean has specifically mentioned her!) so I explored that a little here. I wanted more boys, more brotherly moments, more connection with them, and the ending with Claire riding off in her car was very jarring to watch. But I'm still looking forward to what happens next!

Thank you! It certainly was an unexpected turn of events for me to find myself endearing to Mick. But I guess from Mick's POV a whole new world has opened up, and it'll be interesting to see how he continues on from this. Will it create a rift between him and 'elders' and BMoL? I'm hoping so at this point in time.

Take care and thanks for stopping by :)

Mick is growing on me too and I like the way you've got him ruminating on the nature of 'monster' and what a changing definition would mean for him personally, job-wise :)

I actually quite like Claire. I know a lot of people find her whiny pouty and annoying, but to me she's collateral damage who demanded a place in the bigger story and I kinda like her for that!

I did enjoy Sam's expression when he learned the wouldn't be sharing a room with his brother. I didn't think he looked happy about it! And I love the idea of Dean skinny-dipping in the pool! :D

Thank you! I found the development of Mick's story line very compelling. It's great to see another charterer learn the shades of grey in the hunting world, and I hope we see more of that and the implications it has for Mick and his place within the BMoL.

I enjoyed Claire in the episode, but I do sometimes find her a little annoying. But I liked how she is showing some maturity as she fessed up to Jody that she's been hunting, and finally coming to realise that she has to be responsible as she does have loved ones who care about her, and I enjoyed that aspect.

Yes! Dean skinny-dipping was all kinds of fun, and Sam did not enjoy the idea of having his own room!!!! Thank you fr stopping by :)

I like that phrasing about the girl he killed being a part of him; he's not just recognizing that there can be goodness in "monsters," but that there can be something monstrous in his own nature.

Thank you! I loved the conversation Dean had with Mick about the hunting world not being black and white, and I'll be interested to see if we see Mick question the BMoL motives in the future. And yes, I like to think he'll be questioning who the monster really is, especially in relation to Magda...

Thank you for stopping by! Take care :)
