Back to the Beginning

Dean's numb, staring blankly at Cas's fallen body, his jeans sodden from the sticky mud under his knees. Moments ago they had a plan, and they were winning.

Now Mom's trapped in another dimension with Lucifer, Crowley sacrificed himself for the greater good, and Cas is... well Cas is gone.

And what is Dean supposed to do? For the first time in years he has no angel and demon allies. He's back to square one; back to the beginning. All Dean has in the world to fix this is Sam, the Impala, and Dad's journal, and that's just not enough.

A/N: While it was no 12.22, there was a lot to celebrate and enjoy in this episode (the alternate reality where Sam and Dean were never born, alternate reality Bobby and Rufus his weapon, Crowley sacrificing himself for the greater good (if you're gonna go, that's the most awesome way to do it!), Mary beating Lucifer with her brass knuckles, and poor Sam and Dean's faces as the episode came to a close!) I love the idea of the alternate reality and all the possibilities that opens up (are we going to see more old characters return but warped and twisted?) and I wanted to explore they might move on from here. With no angel and demon as back up, are we going to go back to the early days of Sam and Dean solving cases alone? And how are they going to get Mary back? I'm excited to see where's we're heading next season, and what the big bad will be. Thank you all for all your support and comments during these drabbles and I'll be back for more in season 13!
