As always, the bite-sized entries for [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling are so very strong this year. One of the best things about this challenge is the variety (of pairings, genre and ratings) and the fact that you really never know what you're going to see. This challenge truly has something for everyone, so if you haven't done so already, I urge you to check them out.

In no order whatsoever, here are just 10 of my highlights from this years entries which will remain anonymous until the reveals next week:

Bonfires Green (Gen/Outsider POV, PG, fic)
Frost (J2, PG, art)
Fields of Stars in Bloom (Sam & Dean with references to Sam/Jess, PG, fic)
Salve Regina (Nancy/Dean, PG13, fic)
Shadow Boxing (Dean & Sam, PG13, fic)
Until We Hit The Ground (Sam/Cas, PG13, fic)
Star Bright (J2, PG, fic)
Under These Darkened Skies (Smith/Wesson, R, fic)
(Not) From the Journal of John Winchester (Sam & Dean, G, art)
If the Sky Should Tumble and Fall (J2, PG13, fic)

I think there are 89 entries this year so please check them all out at [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling and praise the creators with all the love and support they deserve. What are you waiting for? Go now!!! :)

My [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling gift has been posted and it's a stunning beautiful and bittersweet fic that I would love you all read. Please check it out and shower the currently anon author with love. It's called Field of Stars in Bloom, and it's Sam and Dean (gen) with references to Sam/Jess.

I'm also going to do a rec list of just 10 of my favourites after posting has ended. This will be difficult, because as always with this challenge the quality is so high. In the meantime please check out [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling because there really is something for everybody and they're all bite-sized but perfectly formed ♥

The wonderful and oh so generous [livejournal.com profile] crowroad3 has written me a deliciously beautiful fic to fill a wish I left on Day 6 of the Snowflake Challenge. As always with [livejournal.com profile] crowroad3's work, it's painted with magical words and is just so creative. It's short and perfectly formed, so please read and comment;

How I Want You Green

In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create.

I try to consume as many fanworks as I can whether it's art, fic, vids, thinky thoughts, etc, so this is actually quite difficult for me. I think I'll go with some recs for things that were created for me for challenges:

1. Hope for Happiness (PG13 Gen. Sam and Dean) by [livejournal.com profile] excoyote for [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen. This fic is a thing of quiet and tender beauty and is written with such heart and feeling, and the most gorgeously written Sam POV.

2. Promenade (PG13 Gen. Sam and Dean) by [livejournal.com profile] frozen_delight for [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling. This is a beautiful, bittersweet and perfectly formed pocket-sized fic.

3. The Long Road Home (PG13 Gen. Sam and Dean) by [livejournal.com profile] kcscribbler for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas A wonderfully written curtainfic that features so many things that I love, including smart boys, spot on brotherly banter, and a perfect road trip for our boys.

4. Is it cheating to rec my own rec lists? I'm going to do it anyway because there's just so much talent in this fandom. So here is a list of 10 recs from 2016's [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling and here is a list of 10 recs from 2016's [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen.

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

I'm a little late to this party, but I love this challenge and I don't want to miss out this year so I'm playing catch up. I always struggle with reccing my own work and for that reason alone, it's also one of the challenges that I make myself complete. So here we go;

1. Heart's Desire (Sam and Dean, gen. PG13). This was written for 2016 [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas secret Santa challenge for [livejournal.com profile] kcscribbler. It's been a long time since I wrote a curtain/future fic, and I love both reading and writing them, so it was so much fun writing one again. Plus, it's always such a joy gifting a fic, and also receiving one. As it turned out [livejournal.com profile] kcscribbler wrote for each other this year, which was such a joy!

2. The T-Shirt (Sam and Dean gen. PG13). This was written for a prompt by [livejournal.com profile] kettle_o_fish for the Happy Birthday, Sammy! challenge at [livejournal.com profile] ohsam. It was a late entry, but I just couldn't get the prompt out of my head. It's a short but sad fic, and while I've written things similar to this, for some reason this one really stands out as something special. Despite the subject material, I'm very fond of it.

3. Heartstrings (AU J2. PG13). This was a collaboration with the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] quickreaver for the 2016 [livejournal.com profile] spn_meanttobe challenge. This was my first year taking part in this delightful challenge, and I was lucky enough to work with such a wonderful artist. I had a blast writing this fic, and working with the prompt. This was only my second experience working with an artist on a project, and I do hope to collaborate with more artists in 2017.

My secret Santa gift has arrived from this years [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas and it's perfect in every way!!! [livejournal.com profile] kcscribbler has woven together my likes with one of my prompts and has created a must read fic!!! It's a curtainfic that features so many wonderful things, including smart boys, spot on brotherly banter, and a perfect road trip for our boys. It made me smile in every way possible! Please read it and shower the author with praise - you won't regret it!!!

This years [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen entries were super strong!!! It would seem that every year the bar is raised, and the quality and variety of fanworks is just magical. If you find yourselves with some time on your hands, I urge you to check out all the glorious 2016 entries; some are bite sized in length, some are longer and you can really get your teeth stuck in, there's a lovely mix of characters and genres, plus there's art and vids too - truly a little something for everyone.

In no order whatsoever, here's just 10 of my highlights from this years entries (I've tried to give you a taster of the wide variety available) which will remain anonymous until reveals:

Hope For Happiness
491
The Five Days of Dean Winchester
The Increase of Knowledge
The Trick of the Trade
Over the Mountains of the Moon
Campanula Rapunculus
Leaving my Brother Alone
Blessed Be the Boys Time Can’t Capture
Blue Bayou (art)

It was hard to limit my enormous list down to just 10, so please check them all out at [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen and praise the creators and mods with all the love and support they deserve. [livejournal.com profile] frozen_delight has also complied a rec list (which helped me narrow down my own) and you can check that out here.

The [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen goodies are starting to trickle in and my gift fic has arrived and you all need to check it out here!

The mystery writer has taken one of prompts and turned it into a thing of quiet and tender beauty. It's a future/curtain fic, but written with such heart and feeling, and the most gorgeously written Sam POV. It's short but oh so sweet and feely. So please, check it out and shower the currently anon writer with all the praise in the world (I can't wait to find out who you are!!!) Trust me, you won't regret it.

As always, the bite-sized entries for [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling were very strong this year. One of the best things about this challenge is the variety and the fact that you really never know what you're going to see; something sweet and cheery, something dark and twisted, something that will break your heart, or something that will put a huge smile on your face. This challenge truly has something for everyone, so if you haven't done so already, I urge you to check them out.

In no order whatsoever, here's just 10 of my highlights from this years entries which will remain anonymous until next weeks reveals:

Promenade (Sam and Dean gen, PG13, fic)
Shadows Of Friends, Of Those He Knew (Sam and Death gen, G, art)
Superglue (J2, PG13, fic)

I think there are 82 entries this year, all featuring different pairings, ratings and genres, so please check them all out at [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling and praise the creators with all the love and support they deserve.

My [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling gift has been posted and it's beautiful, bittersweet and just a perfectly formed pocket-sized fic that I would love you all to read. It's Sam and Dean (gen) and it's called Promenade. Please check it out and shower the currently anon author with love.

Check it out here.

I'm also going to try and do a rec list (maybe 10 or 15) after posting has ended. This will be difficult, because as always with this challenge the quality is so high, but I'm just so excited about all the talent in our fandom ♥

Day 13

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create.

I try to consume as many fanworks as I can whether it's art, fic, vids, thinky thoughts, etc, so this is actually quite difficult for me. I think I'll go some recs for things that were created for me for challenges or filling a prompt I've left:

1. The End of the World (and back again) by [livejournal.com profile] harrigan which filled a prompt I left over at [livejournal.com profile] ohsam. Without spoiling too much it's got action, it's got drama, it's got a raw sense of realism, it's got hurt!Sam, it's got perfect Dean, it's got brotherly awesomeness, and a perfectly poignant ending.

2.Paying for Time by [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams for 2015's [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen. This is a bittersweet and tender fic, that brought tears to my eyes. It's wonderfully creative, with a non linear format and fascinating lore and premise.

3. The Lonely Road by [livejournal.com profile] becc_j for a prompt I left at [livejournal.com profile] ohsam. It's the most wonderfully bad ass and beautiful piece of art with Sam on a motorbike that I've ever seen! It's moody and delicious, a little bloody, but in the best and most awesome kind of way.

4.Only Came for my Princess by [livejournal.com profile] chomaisky for 2015's [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling. This is stunning piece of art, and I adore the badass feel of it! The cityscape, the moodiness of the facial expressions, the attention to detail - simply gorgeous!

5. You Can Always Go Home by [livejournal.com profile] safiyabat for 2015's [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas. Such a fascinating AU premise; sprinkled with a wonderful cast of canon characters spanning many seasons. An exciting read!

Day 3

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

I think out of all the challenges, reccing my own work is one of the hardest. For that reason, it's also one of the ones that I make myself complete. *Deep breath* here we go;

1. Mindgate: Brothers in Arms (AU J2. Rated R). This was my first ever art/fic collaboration and without sounding too weird about it, I'm very proud of the fact that I bucked up the courage to approach [livejournal.com profile] becc_j about working on something together. I was thrilled that she agreed, and she graciously held my hand throughout the inner workings of a collab. I'm over the moon with the end product; the art is out of the world gorgeous, and with [livejournal.com profile] harrigan's help, I felt like the fic did everything that I wanted it to. Basically, the whole thing was a highlight of 2015 for me.

2. Ten of Swords (Sam/Jess. Jess POV. Rated PG13). This was written recently for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas as a gift for [livejournal.com profile] sophiap. It took a bit of brainstorming with my ever hard-working beta, but we got there in the end and after that, the actual writing of the fic went fairly smoothly. While I've written Jess POV before, this felt different, and I feel that I touched a bit more into who she was. It was also a challenge going from writing an action and plot based fic (Mindgate), to a more quiet and everyday slice of life fic. I loved the experience, and hope to write Jess again.

3. Shine On (AU Sam and Dean gen. Dark content. Rated R). This was written early in 2015 for a challenge at [livejournal.com profile] evilsam_spn. I wanted to try something new, to step into something different and outside of my comfort zone, and this fic is the end result. It feels different from the stuff I usually write, it's dark and kinda twisted, but the experience was wonderful. I also think that my writing benefited as a whole; pushing it into areas I've never explored before, and it definitely influenced another fic that I wrote last year (The Book of Abel written for 2015 [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling for [livejournal.com profile] quickreaver).

[livejournal.com profile] harrigan recently posted a fill for a prompt I left over at [livejournal.com profile] ohsam's triple play 2015 Sam-focused hurt-comfort challenge and you all need to read it now! The link is here.

Without spoiling anything it's got action, it's got drama, it's got a raw sense of realism, it's got hurt!Sam, it's got perfect Dean, it's got brotherly awesomeness, and a perfectly poignant ending. It's approx 6k of wonderfully written fic and you'll love it, I know you will. So read it now, another link is below:

The [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen goodies are well underway and my gift fic has arrived and it's wonderful and you all need to check it out here!

The mystery writer has blended a few of my prompts to create a bittersweet and tender fic, that brought tears to my eyes. It's wonderfully creative, with a non linear format and fascinating lore and premise. So please, check it out and shower the secret writer with praise (I can't wait to find out who you are). I know I'm gushing, but I can't help myself \o/

\o/ When I first found out that the oh so talented [livejournal.com profile] becc_j had claimed one of my prompts for the [livejournal.com profile] ohsam five year anniversary challenge, I was beyond excited!!

She's now posted the most wonderfully bad ass and beautiful piece of art with Sam on a motorbike that I've ever seen! It's moody and delicious, a little bloody, but in the best and most awesome kind of way. Seriously, you need to check it out now. I mean it, stop reading this and go and shower her with all the praise in the world!!

This way to Becc_j's awesome art!
