Mom Stuff
Dean's hands hover as he carefully inspects each of Sam's bloody wounds with a murderous glare. The second Mary turns the key and the chains crash to the ground, Sam's shaking arms wrap desperately around his brother like he's seeking assurance that he's real. They hold each fiercely, like they're each other's world; an instinct that she may never fully understand.
There's a million things she's missed; first words and first loves, but seeing the way they hold each other, an indescribable bond that's all theirs, something they did without her and John; well, that's the Mom stuff she's craving.
A/N: A bit of a mixed bag for me! There were some truly awesome highlights like Sam and Mary's conversation and hug that brought a tear to my eye, but also a lot of confusion and uncertainly regarding the BMoL and their motivations. I do wonder if maybe Toni has a vendetta here, some kind of personal history or connection with the Winchesters which would explain some of her behaviour? On the whole I like the idea of a human threat for this season, and I'd welcome many more feely Winchester family moments!

Love your little vignette on Sam and Dean's relationship from Mary's pov. But I've also been wondering how Mary's presence is going to impact on that relationship . . .

Date: 2016-10-25 06:04 pm (UTC)I am also curious as to Toni's motives. They say they want to work with the Hunters to rid the States of monsters, and yet they go about imprisoning and torturing Sam?? And talk about bringing this other person in that sounds to be like the ultimate torturer. Definitely not a way to start working with someone to rid us of monsters. There are other motives at play here, more evil motives, I think, that have yet to be revealed.

Date: 2016-10-26 06:50 am (UTC)Wonderful, and thank you so much for writing this, I was a bit annoyed with the lack of reunion between the boys and also Sam apparently heals overnight. There wasn't a single mark on his face, even though I'm pretty sure he was cut across the cheek...but Toni looked black and blue in her car scene. Anyway never mind, I'm nitpicking. I loved that last scene between Sam and Mary, perfect, like this drabble <3

(Also, reading these Mary drabbles in retrograde is SO EXCELLENT. While I'm sorry to have had to wait to get to these, this kind of makes up for it. It's like stepping back through Mary's first thoughts upon resurrection. <3)
