Blood

Donna's mother's a chatty-Cathy; Can't you keep a man? What about children? You need to quit your job and focus on what's important.

She feels invisible; like no one really knows her.

Then Jody calls; Sam and Dean are missing, Claire's in danger, and they need her. Donna drops everything.

Her mother told her that you can't choose your family. But as she drives too fast, her stomach in knots, she realises that maybe the family you choose, and the one that chooses you in return, runs so much deeper than blood. That maybe she's finally found where she belongs.



A/N: I enjoyed this episode! And while it wasn't perfect, there was a lot that I did enjoy (the sibling banter between Alex and Claire, badass Donna and Jody, Dean eating lizard and Sam's horrified little face, the family meal scene at the end, and just the whole kickass women vibe). I left really wanting to know more about Donna so I focused on her a little more in this drabble. Thank you, lovely! I thought Donna kicked ass in this episode, but I'd really like to see more about her backstory and POV, and this seemed to fit. And I loved the ending of the episode, seeing a family of choice, not of blood. It's a great way to expand on the theme of our show.x

Ahhhh I love this! I love the dimension you give to Donna here, and the sketch you offer of Donna's mother. So perfect as the transition into the episode, and especially that last scene of the ep, with the chosen family all unified around their takeout.

Nice. I didn't much like Donna when she was first introduced. She seemed like such an...unflattering caricature. But Briana is a good actress and she tapped into the character's headspace so well and gave us such interesting performances, that she really grew on me. And you've done that here too, tapped into the depths of the character and given us more. And more Donna makes me happy. Thank you. :)
