Summary: 13.11 Drabble. Donna gets a phone call from Sam.

Not Alone

She pulls the truck off the road; Sam Winchester's name flashing on her phone.

“I'm sorry, Donna. What I said about Doug, I-”

“No. You were right. I want him safe.”

“I just...I'm here for you; so is Dean, and Jody. We're all in this together, as a family. That's how this works, OK?”

“Thank you, Sam. It works both ways, yanno?”

She can imagine the little nod, his head down. Something's bothering him.

He hangs up, and Donna tosses the phone onto the passenger seat. They've got each other's back; they'll all be just fine.



A/N: I loved the dark and gritty feel of this episode, and the old school horror vibe - I'd love more! While it wasn't perfect, I absolutely adored that we got some Sam POV, and the brotherly interaction was great (seeing Dean try to support Sam the way Sam supported him). After last week, I'm so happy that we got to see another side of Donna, a darker and more solemn side. I would love more of that because Briana knocked it out of the park! I focused on Donna and Sam here, because I felt I wanted a little more from them both. As always I'd love to hear your thoughts too; on the episode, on the drabble, on everything (just no spoilers please). I love the way you give us a little bit more of Sam and Donna's relationship here! And I, too, can imagine this so well: She can imagine the little nod, his head down. Something's bothering him.

I feel like we've gotten a little more of Dean and Donna on the show, so it's lovely to take a look at her and Sam. I love that he's the one she calls in the episode.

I really enjoyed the horror vibe as well! And Sam completely broke my heart this episode. </3

Yes, it certainly does feel like we've seen more of them together on screen. Like you said I loved how it was Sam that Donna called, and I liked the idea of Sam doing the same at the end of the episode to remind Donna that she's not alone. I wrote Donna for last weeks drabble too, and I love to get into her headspace; there's still so much we don't know about her yet, so I was excited to learn a little more about her in this weeks episode.

Yes, bring on the horror!!! And I loved that we got some Sam POV, and I'd like them to explore this further. Take care and thanks for stopping by :)

Personally, I have a hard time imagining Sam apologising for his harsh words, even though Donna definitely deserves an apology. His advice to Donna is always heavily coloured by what he's going through at the time - the last time he practically wanted to push her into a relationship, now it was the opposite. Plus he's always been a bit dismissive of her.

But I really hope the Donna/Doug 2.0 relationship is over for good now and that Donna realises that she's better off without him.

It really was great to see more of Donna, and learn more about her. I feel like the writers could really explore her character more; there's still so much we don't know about her. I was sad to see her so upset about Doug (I guess maybe TPTB didn't want her to be in a relationship going into WS?) and I hope she knows she can rely on her new WS family (but if she has a niece, she has a sibling, so what about her extended family?)
