I forgot to post the last three episode drabbles of season 13, so I'll post them over the next few days leading towards the season 14 opener.
Title: He Ain't Heavy...
Summary: 13.21 Drabble. Dean finds his brother in the cave.
Rating: PG13
Genre/Spoilers: Gen. Season 13 spoilers.
Warnings: Unbeta'd. This is not a happy drabble. You have been warned.
Word Count: 100
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural that privilege belongs to CW, Kripke and Co, I'm simply borrowing them for a while. I'm not making a profit, this is just for fun and all the standard disclaimers apply.
He Ain't Heavy...
Dean's knees crash into the packed-dirt ground of the cave; numb fingers brush through his brother's hair, tracing over his cooling too-white skin, and around his unseeing wide-open eyes.
He reaches out for his brother, cradling him carefully; pulling him in so close he can taste bitter-blood on his tongue.
“Sammy.” He whispers it over and over until he chokes on it. He deserves far worse.
“We go together. That's what you said. That's what you promised.”
This world, and his own, can go to hell for all he cares. He's done.
He packed his gun; it's in his bag.
A/N: Eeeeee I'm so sorry, but this is just what came out after I watched the episode, because of course Dean would have gone back for Sam, no matter what Cas said, or how much time they had. Anyway, I just had to get this out of my system. I loved this episode though; a few weird bits, but most of it was divine and gave me many feels. As always I'd love to hear your thoughts too; on the episode, on the drabble, on everything (just no spoilers for season 14 please). Take care :)

Date: 2018-10-09 09:13 am (UTC)I couldn't resist a little what if here, especially after Sam's words from the previous episode where he said if they had to die then they'd do it together. Thank you for reading :)

Date: 2018-10-09 12:55 pm (UTC)It is very frustrating, but fandom has pretty much fixed it, so I'll leave it be. But it is annoying.

Date: 2018-10-08 07:29 pm (UTC)On the actual scene, I get what everyone is saying, but at the same time--he saw the blood, he knew Sam was dead. He had Cas blocking his way, trying to save his life by telling him it was too late. He had a young girl who was in the cave because of them and who had just lost her friend. All of which is to say that I understand why it played out the way it did.

Date: 2018-10-09 09:23 am (UTC)Yes, I can see what you're saying and it does make sense, but perhaps Cas should have said something more concrete about seeing Sam and that he was dead, instead of saying "he's gone" which could mean lost in the tunnels. As a viewer, I didn't know Sam was actually dead until we saw his body a few scenes later.
Thank you for reading and for your kind words. Take care :)
